Abstract
Hypertension not only leads to a high mortality rate but also results in high treatment and care costs for those affected. It is important to note that hypertension also contributes to a decline in quality of life. If a person experiences high blood pressure and does not receive regular treatment and monitoring, it can lead to serious complications and even death. Continuous high blood pressure causes the heart to work harder, which may result in damage to the blood vessels of the heart, kidneys, brain, and eyes. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and the incidence of hypertension in Kotakusuma Village. This research is correlational in nature with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of all elderly hypertension patients in Kotakusuma Village, totaling 50 individuals. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority (48%) of respondents had mild anxiety levels, and 48% suffered from stage 1 hypertension. Based on statistical analysis, the p-value was 0.046, which is below 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between anxiety levels and the incidence of hypertension in Kotakusuma Village. It can be concluded that anxiety levels are related to the incidence of hypertension. One of the contributing factors to anxiety found in this study was gender, with the majority of respondents being female, suggesting that women are more prone to experiencing anxiety. Meanwhile, age was one of the contributing factors to hypertension.
