Abstract
Anemia is a health problem that is still widely experienced by adolescent girls and can impact physical health, cognitive abilities, and academic achievement. Factors suspected to be associated with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls include diet, hemoglobin (Hb) levels, and menstrual cycle disorders. This study aims to analyze the relationship between diet, hemoglobin (Hb) levels, and menstrual cycle disorders with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls at Sunan Giri Menganti High School. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all female students of Sunan Giri Menganti High School with a sample of 60 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, hemoglobin level measurements, and menstrual cycle data. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression to determine the effect of each independent variable on the incidence of anemia. The results showed that the majority of respondents had poor diet (93.3%), low hemoglobin levels (66.7%), and experienced menstrual cycle disorders (53.3%). The incidence of anemia was found in 68.4% of respondents consisting of mild anemia (40.0%), moderate anemia (26.7%), and severe anemia (1.7%). Regression analysis showed a positive and significant association between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia (p<0.001; B=1.959), as did hemoglobin levels (p<0.001; B=1.098). Conversely, menstrual cycle disorders did not show a significant association with anemia (p=0.502; B=-0.102). These findings indicate that dietary patterns and hemoglobin levels are dominant factors influencing the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. Therefore, preventative measures are needed through nutrition education, increasing consumption of iron-rich foods, and optimizing iron supplementation programs to reduce the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls.
