Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that requires strict dietary management to prevent further complications. Patient compliance with the recommended diet is greatly influenced by various factors, including self-motivation and family support. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-motivation and family support and dietary compliance in hypertensive patients. The method used is a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data was obtained through a questionnaire that measured the level of self-motivation, family support, and dietary compliance in hypertensive patients. The results of the study showed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-motivation and family support and diet compliance in hypertensive patients. Patients with a high level of self-motivation tend to be more compliant with the recommended diet, while good family support also strengthens the patient's commitment to following the diet. This research suggests that medical personnel should pay attention to psychosocial factors such as self-motivation and family support in designing effective interventions to increase dietary compliance in hypertensive patients. self-motivation from 52 respondents, motivation percentage mostly 49 respondents (94.2%), elderly family support in the good category mostly 50 respondents (96.1%),and the majority of respondents who adhered to the hypertension diet were 49 respondents (94.2%). Spearman rank test results of self-motivation and family support with patient diet compliance shows that the significance value is p = 0.000 < α (0.05)
