Abstract
Madeline Whittier in Everything, Everything novel is a girl who fight against bubble baby disease or SCID. Bubble baby disease or SCID is a disease that attacks a person's immunity so that the person is allergic to the outside world. In this study, the purpose of this research is to find out Madeline Whittier's motivation to fight bubble baby disease or SCID. This research is a qualitative research. With data sources in the form of the novel Everything,Everything by Nicola Yoon, and several related journals. The process of collecting and processing data in this study from sentences, conversations, and paragraphs in the novel which are then analyzed in several steps. After the data is collected, it is analyzed using several appropriate concepts, approaches, and theoretical views from experts who have been quoted, reviewed, detailed, and compared after which the researcher can evaluate the data and compiled the conclusions. The results of this study show that Madeline's motivation to fight bubble baby disease is first because Madeline is in love with Olly, and second because of her high curiosity about the outside world. Which makes Madeline dare to take great risks in fighting her illness.
