Abstract

Anxiety disorder is a character trait that can provide a description of interactions with the public with a sense of fear towards individuals through a certain scope. In this study, the author analyzes the anxiety disorders suffered by Norma Jeane who is the main character in the novel Blonde written by Joyce Carol Oates. The purpose of the study is to provide an overview of Norma Jeane from the causes and effects of her anxiety disorders. The purpose of this study is to provide evidence showing the symptoms of anxiety suffered by Norma Jeane from birth to death. The method used in this research is a qualitative description. The data source used in this research is the result of the expression of feelings in the form of paragraphs in the novel. The data collection process in this research is by reading and understanding the contents of the novel, categorizing the data, and organizing the data. The process of data analysis in this research is reading the data, understanding the data, interpreting the data, and making conclusions. The results of this study can provide an explanation related to the anxiety Symptoms experienced by Norma Jeane from the time she was born to be a burden on her parents until she was considered an orphan. Norma Jeane only has a few friends until she changes her husband several times because of her increasingly famous career reasons. However, the sacrifice of career with Norma Jeane's life is not always good, but has a bad side that occurs until death.
